Shared Experience Is The Key
You may have been in business a long time, 20, 30 years or more. You may have learned the hard way. Trial and error is a hard and costly way to learn. Put 12 seasoned business people at the same table in a room to talk about business, and there is now over 300 years of experience. If they drop the ego and talk about their mistakes, the group can help the others avoid the mines.
Most of our business experience could be viewed as the same day repeated thousands of times. But what if you could go into a business, interview all the employees, the principles, their wives, children, attorneys, and see their books, tax returns, everything laid bare. Now that would give you an experience base.
What if we paid one of our Counsel members to do nothing but that, go on site of a business and spend 3 or 4, 12 hour days inspecting the business under a microscope, and condense the findings? One key element to the Presidents' Counsel is each counsel is chaired by a seasoned business consultant, normally billed at $200-$400 per hour, as the Counsel’s guide.
We know our bodies well, but when we are sick we go to a doctor who sees thousands of bodies. Because he sees so many, he can spot trends, norms and things we cannot see.
Sal Farinella Sr. is the Chair for most Counsels. He has acted as the point man for over 1,000 turn arounds where he did just that, spent 3 or 4 days on location at each business, dissected its infrastructure, determined the weaknesses, assessed its recovery and made recommendations.
